FEA-SR RECOMMENDS NOT APPLYING FOR ENI

JANE LOGGINS – FEA Director for DDESS
BEN HUNTER – FEA-SR General Counsel
ANGELIA STUBBS – FEA-SR General Counsel

The following information applies to Certified employees only

FEA SR has learned the Agency will be offering an Early Notice Incentive (ENI) for educators who choose to resign or retire from their position at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. The application deadline is January 13, 2020. The Agency has not provided FEA-SR the opportunity to bargain the ENI amount or the application process and has been reluctant to clarify the process if an educator decides not to submit a resignation or retirement paperwork after applying for an ENI. Our concern is that the Agency will attempt to involuntarily separate employees who apply for an ENI by the January 13, 2020 deadline but, for whatever reason, decide not to retire or resign by the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

FEA SR does not believe the modest incentive ($1000 before taxes) is a fair exchange for an educator sacrificing her right to decide when she wants to retire.

We strongly encourage educators NOT to apply for ENI.
